Military Bootcamp for Journalists – Overview
The Military Bootcamp for Journalists is an immersive, hands-on training course designed to provide media professionals with a foundational understanding of U.S. military structure, tactics, and operational realities. Developed for journalists who may embed with military units or report from areas of military activity, this course introduces many core principles found in Global HEFAT training while placing added emphasis on the responsibilities, risks, and protocols specific to working in partnership with the armed forces.
Participants will engage in guided discussions, tactical workshops, and practical field exercises that simulate the challenges of reporting in non-permissive environments. The curriculum focuses heavily on Operational Security (OPSEC), military communication protocols, and field behavior—ensuring that journalists understand their impact on missions and safety.
